Our Story

Built from the Field. Backed by Science.

Generations on the Move was born on a football field — and refined in a clinical office. We exist because one coach refused to let talent go to waste.

Mission & Vision

One Generation to Change Everything

Our mission is to architect youth resilience by delivering clinically supervised, evidence-based Social Emotional Learning and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy programs to K-12 students, educators, and families across South Florida — and beyond.

Our Vision

A South Florida where every young person — regardless of zip code — has the mental tools, emotional intelligence, and professional identity to thrive.

Clinically Grounded

Every program is supervised by licensed clinicians and rooted in CBT and SEL research.

Holistically Designed

We serve the full ecosystem — student, educator, and parent — because transformation requires alignment.

Measurably Impactful

We track outcomes rigorously. $11 in social return for every $1 invested, independently verified.

Culturally Responsive

Gender-adaptive, community-informed curriculum that meets youth where they are.

Meet the Founder

Lawrence T. Smith Jr., Founder of Generations on the Move

Founder & Executive Director

Father of 5 · Youth Minister · Mental Health First Aider · Sociology & Psychology

Lawrence T. Smith Jr.

Lawrence T. Smith Jr. didn't start in a boardroom — he started on a football field. As a coach and mentor in South Florida's most underserved communities, he watched talented young men fall through the cracks not because they lacked ability, but because no one had ever taught them how to manage their minds.

He bridges that gap through lived experience: a father of 5 (3 girls, 2 boys), 4 years as a youth minister, a certified Mental Health First Aider, and an academic foundation in sociology and psychology. That combination of faith, family, and science is the heartbeat of everything Generations on the Move does.

Generations on the Move is the result — a clinically supervised, community-embedded organization that bridges the gridiron and the boardroom, one student at a time.

"I've watched kids with every reason to fail choose to win — because someone finally gave them the tools. That's what we do."

— Lawrence T. Smith Jr., Founder
